Living on Tapa the World: First Two Weeks Living in Barcelona!

Hola Familia y amigos!

We have arrived at our new home safe + sound and bellies food of delicious food. We are currently staying in an Airbnb with our Barcelona team and we will move into our own apt July 1st! Praise God for His provision! It has been so great to be reunited after a month living apart from each other.

As a team, we wanted to spend our first week living in Barcelona fasting, praying and seeking after The Lord. So in doing so, we disconnected from our phones and spent time with The Lord and resting in His desires for the city.

Each morning we spent time abiding - reading our bibles, praying, and listening to The Lord. Then we gathered in our *tiny* living room to pray over whatever the Spirit led us. Some of the things we prayed over: that people would have freedom from bondage/sin, raising up leaders in Spain, the lost, community and a whole lot of other good stuff.

After praying as a team, we went out to different neighborhoods around Barcelona (about 1-2 each day) and prayed over that specific neighborhood. Then we went back to the airbnb and spent time in fellowship as a team, abiding some more, and would have a yummy dinner with one another. (Perks of being roommates again with your chef friends hehe)

Here’s a recap of just some of the amazing things The Lord has done since moving here:

  • Connections with local believers - We had dinner with some local Christians here who have a heart for reaching the lost in Spain. We spent time encouraging one another and coming up with ways to reach the lost here in Spain. We are visiting their house church gathering this weekend and can't wait to learn, grow, and work alongside other believers!

  • Stirring of the Spirit in hearts - The Spirit has been moving here. We have met a lot of people who were receptive to prayer. As a team we have gotten to share the gospel with people who we have met as we are going; playing soccer (John not me haha), our waiters, Instagram connections, and people in coffee shops! We are excited to see what God is going to do!

  • Attended a Filipino church - John had met a guy named Mark while playing soccer and asked Mark if he could pray for him. Mark told John that he also loves Jesus and invited us to his Filipino church that following Sunday. It was so incredible to watch a culture praise and worship God. We are in awe of what God is doing!

  • Underlying peace since being here - One night while John and I were doing a little date night, he looked at me and said how much Barcelona feels like home and I couldn’t agree more! Jesus has been so gracious in taking care of us and providing every step of the way - from the support of our friends and families back home, financial provision, our team, and what He’s done in the first week. We both started to reflect back on our lives and see how this has been a part of God’s plan from the very beginning. Every morning when we wake up, we experience true joy and belonging here. :)

Prayer Requests for these next two weeks:
The Lost -
Please continue to plead for the lost in Barcelona. We believe God is going to do mighty things here.
Community in Spain -  Please pray that God will continue to connect us to more believers here in Spain so our community will grow :)
Apartment Process - God has provided us with a wonderful apartment that we looove so much! (it comes furnished too!) However, the process is tedious and not super clear haha. Since the culture here is more laid back, the process has been a bit more difficult. Please pray for patience, peace, and guidance.
New Neighborhood - The neighborhood we are moving into next month is a lower income area and is a lot like East Austin. It's very diverse and a majority of the people that make up the neighborhood are immigrants that come from a different religion and culture. Please pray that The Spirit will move in their hearts, boldness to share the gospel and care for them, life transformation and eternal joy from Jesus! We want to see a revival come in this neighborhood God has called us to live in!

We are hoping to send out newsletters every two weeks [on the 15th + 30th of every month] to keep everyone in the loop - especially since there has already been so much in just this first week! We would love to stay in touch with y'all and WhatsApp is the best way to do so! So if you have WhatsApp, feel free to ping us and say hi! As always, we would LOVE to pray for you guys, so let us know how we can by WhatsApp message or responding to this email. :)

Here is a verse we have been clinging to this season:
"But those who trust in The Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint." -Isaiah 40:31

Some photos from the first week :)
